Bride Zeba’s dream of a fairy tale wedding became reality with a gorgeous wedding in the heart of New York. With only 3 months of planning between the engagement to the big-day, the wedding and events surrounding it went just as planned.
How they met
My husband and I were introduced through a mutual friend and fell instantly in love. It felt like the fairy tale every girl dreams of had manifested into my reality!
In August of 2015, we got engaged at The Ritz Carlton in New York City and we could hardly wait to begin the rest of our lives.
Choosing a Location
I had always imagined a fall wedding, so after a lot of contemplation we set out to get married in October of the same year. Deciding a venue location was a much easier task at hand; being born and raised in New York, Central Park was an obvious must. The iconic Essex House is a historic venue located in the heart of Central Park West, and it took my breath away- I fell in love with the regal ambiance of the ballroom.
The Wedding Events
Our wedding was a three day event with each day being different from the other and illustrating the love between my prince charming and I. I curated each event to have its own theme through its food, decor and music of different genres which was beautifully executed by DJ INaach (some genres of music were those that bring you back to the time of unimaginable love).
We began our wedding weekend with our Mayon. The venue was decorated with vibrant and bright colors in large paisley frames and creatively coordinated draping patterns custom designed by Rangoli Weddings, a candlelit backdrop, and dancing flames with elegantly strewn petals setting a romantic atmosphere. To this I wore a couture gown by designer Ali Xeeshan.
The Nikkah & Mehendi
The second day was the Nikkah and Mehendi where I incorporated a traditional theme through bright embroidered umbrellas, intricately carved wooden furniture, and traditional hand printed silks along with twinkling lights creating a magical experience. I entered my mehendi in a traditional hand carved carriage and wore a custom made couture dress by Nomi Ansari.
The Wedding Reception
The final day on October 11, 2015 was our wedding reception. My vision for our reception at Essex House was to elegantly transport our guests to a place of magic and romance. I was living my storybook fantasy, and I wanted them to feel “swept away” with me. Beginning with cocktail hour, our guests were welcomed by a live string quartet and entertained with portrait artists, red carpet photo booth stations, and delicious food.
The first dress I wore to my wedding reception at Essex House was traditional attire which I custom designed and ordered through Amna Talal who resides in New York City. I changed into a couture Naeem Khan gown for our cake cutting ceremony.
When the cocktail hour finished, my guests were greeted to the escort card table. I had a custom made tree escort card centerpiece wrapped in flowers and decorated with rain drops of orchids setting the mood for the reception.
Hundreds of dangling Swarovski crystals were the first things you see when entering the ballroom. Our impressively designed stage looked ultra-glamorous and featured a flower wall with thousands of fresh flowers and hanging crystal drops. The grand ballroom decor included table centerpieces with Swarovski stands, large flower clusters and candle lights that completed my vision.
Our Ron Ben Israel cake was seven tiers of divinity which incorporated whites, creams, ivory, pale pink and hints of red, maroon, and gold architectural moldings around the surface of each tier. The cake featured a confectionery monogram “ZT” in gold along with floating sugar flowers.
After we bid our goodbyes on our final night, my husband and I set off into the moonlight on a horse and buggy carriage in Central Park.
My wedding was the happiest day of my life and I am so happy to have experienced each process of planning my dream into reality. My vision for each day was executed flawlessly by my wedding planners, Teena and Meena at Twin Pearls Event Management, who are highly specialized and experienced in fusion weddings. I loved how they handled every task with positivity. They coordinated all logistics for my 300 guests for all three events in just a month’s time. They assisted with managing RSVPs, along with booking airfare and hotels for our guests traveling from Dubai, Europe and Asia, and so much more. It was incredible how efficiently they weaved through it all.
Words of Advice
My advice for all brides would be to enjoy your wedding day(s). I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner because it cannot be done without them. Cherish these memorable moments and all the love from family, friends, and most importantly, your prince charming!
