Dubai based Neha and Pawan married in a beautiful and intimate destination wedding in Muscat, Oman.
Choosing the luxurious Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah for the wedding venue, Neha’s choice of elegant decor along with the couple’s choice of beautiful couture, created a gorgeous destination wedding just a short flight away from their home.
In the Photographer’s Words: The Bride & Groom
When they contacted and told us they are getting married in Muscat, We were like “wow!”. The location is perfect combination of dessert, mountains and ocean. We consider ourselves privileged that Neha & Pavv chosen DotDusk to be a part of their celebrations.
The mehendi party was held in the garden of the resort next to the beach.
The decor complimented Neha’s lehenga beautifully through the use of vibrant colours and beautiful draped canopies.
While Neha looked gorgeous in the multicolored lehenga from Anita Dongre‘s Love Notes collection, Pawan chose a handsome pink and white waistcoat with a kurta and pants by Raghavendra Rathore.
In the Bride’s Words: How They Met
Pavv and I have known each other for over a decade (my cousin and maid of honor introduced us). We never paid much attention to each other until 3 years ago when we met at a party and Pavv called me up the next day to ask me out on a dinner date.
I didn’t want to go initially but Pavv had coincidentally booked my favorite Italian restaurant and I decided to go mostly just for the food. 20 mins into our dinner however, I knew we were on to something here. 10 days later I recall one of my close friends asking me how things were going and I very casually said to her, “All I can say is, I’m going to marry Pawan some day”. Three years later here we are.
That same evening, the couple held a sangeet in the ballroom of the Shangri-La.
Neha wore a gorgeous maroon and gold lehenga by Arpita Mehta, complimented by diamond jewellery. Pawan wore a navy blue waistcoat and trousers by Troy Costa.
In the Bride’s Words: The Proposal
Pavv proposed on January 2016. We were out for sunset drinks at the Jetty Lounge, at One & Only Royal Mirage hotel in Dubai. As we were walking down the pier, he stopped and went down on his knees and said, “Since the moment I asked what your story was at dinner, you’ve been completing all my sentences. Will you do me the honor of completing all my sentences for the rest of our lives?”
I was really overwhelmed; it was definitely one of the best moments of my life. Pavv had an incognito photographer at the pier who took a picture of us as he went down on his knees. I’m lucky enough to have the real moment captured on camera and I had no clue!
The wedding day arrives and as the afternoon sets in, the couple begins to get ready to take their pheras and become husband and wife.
What the Bride Wore
With makeup and hair done by re-knowned artist Natasha Moor, Neha looks stunning in a coral lehenga designed for her by Koecsh. The design on the lehenga is inspired by the bride’s grandmother’s vintage jewellery set.
What the Groom Wore
Pawan chose a handsome cream threadwork sherwani by Sabyasachi for the big day. He looked regal as he arrived to the wedding with his turban tied in a way that is traditional to the Oman region.
In the Bride’s Words: Choosing a Wedding Location
We were certain we wanted a very small and intimate wedding. Since we’ve both grown up in Dubai, we were skeptical of having the wedding here as it would’ve turned into a very large affair. Our choice was a combination of two factors – firstly, the Shangri-la resort in Oman is one of the most beautiful properties we’ve ever seen. Secondly, we wanted to prioritize on our guests’ comfort levels.
In the Bride’s Words: Wedding Decor
I wanted a very simple standalone mandap in a pastel color on the beach side. This was my favorite event in terms of décor and simplicity. We set up church seating for the chairs as I wanted to walk down the aisle with my brother like brides do in traditional church weddings.
That evening, after the couple married, they held their wedding reception at the ballroom of the resort. Opting for a ‘Winter Wonderland’ theme, the decor looked gorgeous in white with tones of blue.
Neha chose a contemporary light blue gown designed by Koecsh for the reception, and Pawan wore a black tuxedo. They looked stunning walking in together to celebrate their marriage with their family and friends.
